Application Deadline: Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at midnight
Notice: Applicants notified between March 1 – 5
Installation Dates: March 19 – 26
Exhibition On View: March 28 – June 22

MIAD Gallery at The Ave seeks work that emerged from a pandemic world that expresses its profound effect on the lives of creatives and how they transformed their practices. The exhibition will include work that straddles two distinct binaries that emerged from the pandemic:

1) a shift in creative practice to include emerging technologies and the digital world or
2) a return to analog/tactile processes, the handmade, and homesteading

Within these methods of making, we seek work that conceptually explores practices rooted to culture— represented here as both a noun (way of, or reflection of, life) and a verb (to cultivate or grow). Open to all MIAD faculty, staff, *students, and *alumni, the exhibition opens March 28 at MIAD Gallery at The Ave.

Applicants are asked to submit 1-3 works for consideration for the exhibition. In-progress or incomplete work will not be accepted.

*A special consideration is given to submissions by those who were MIAD students during the pandemic, whose work and learning environments were additionally challenged by living through the quarantine period of the pandemic.

Requirements:
• 200 – 300 character response to how your practice grew during the quarantine and the pandemic.
• 1-3 pieces for consideration for the exhibition, including detail and installation shots if possible.
• Updated artist biography and statement.

Call for Applicants – MIAD Gallery at The Ave Seeks Consignment

Application Deadline: Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at midnight
Notice: Applicants notified between March 1 – 7

MIAD Gallery at The Ave Seeks Consignment

There are two designated areas in the gallery: exhibition space and consignment space. This specific application is a call for work to be sold on consignment in the gallery. MIAD students, faculty, staff, and alumni are all welcome to apply to the call for consignment. All work will be considered for the consignment area pending spatial availability, pricing, and display readiness. Work that is selected will be held on consignment for 3 months to a year, after which the items will be subject for removal or renewal in the space. Creatives will be asked to revise their offerings by inventory and/or price if their work does not sell within that time, and they may be asked to remove their work to make room for other individuals who desire to participate. Only work available for sale will be accepted at MIAD Gallery at The Ave. While the majority of items will be considered, we are especially looking to include:

  • home and kitchen goods
  • apparel
  • DIY gifts or craft sets
  • works priced $100 or lower
  • At this time we cannot accept stickers, paintings or other original works that require wall or floor space for display.

Creatives who have experience with vending or consignment are encouraged provide their own displays to incorporate in their offerings pending approval by the gallery manager.

Creatives will receive 60% of the sale price for their work sold on consignment. MIAD Gallery at The Ave will receive 40% from all sales to cover operating expenses. Creatives are asked to strategically price their offerings to accommodate that percentage to ensure they are being paid appropriately for their work, and prices must be agreed upon by both the creative and the gallery manager.

We are excited to review your proposals and look forward to exploring this opportunity with the MIAD community!

Requirements:
• Description of who you are and what you make.
• Proposed inventory, including price and stock. MIAD Gallery at The Ave takes 40% of all sales. Please price accordingly.
