MKE Prints

This collection of hand-pulled screen prints was created by Communication Design students at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.

Each piece offers a unique perspective on Milwaukee—its culture, landmarks and spirit—transformed through bold design and the tactile process of screen printing. Together, the works celebrate both the city and the power of print to tell visual stories.

The exhibition is curated by Brian Bowles ‘01, Associate Professor of Communication Design at MIAD.

Past Projects

Project Reframe

Project Reframe

In response to the negative impacts of pandemic life on mental health, and as part of their senior capstone project at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) in 2021, artist Liz Geoffrey created PROJECT REFRAME, a series of 1,000 positive affirmation postcards printed using letterpress printing. Viewers were invited to personalize and mail these postcards, spreading encouragement and fostering connections through the postal service during a time of isolation.

This MKE Airport iteration reimagines the original project, which was on view April 16 – May 8, 2021, further exploring Liz’s passion for both analog printing and mental health. As a MIAD graduate with a B.F.A. in Illustration, Liz currently works as a freelance graphic designer, keeping their hands inky through volunteer work at printing museums and local shops. Airport Partnership

MKE Airport is one of many Milwaukee area businesses and organizations that partner with MIAD to create engaging spaces for travelers. MIAD also offers the opportunity to collaborate with students in all majors to create innovative solutions for business and organizational challenges, such as the airport did for its new wayfinding map in 2021. MIAD is proud to continue its partnership with our hometown airport and to help provide the best possible travel experience.
