Originals and Echoes

November 19, 2024 – February 15, 2025

MIAD Gallery at The Ave presents an exhibition featuring NSP200B Singularity and Multiplicity, an exhibition surrounding aura. Aura, as conceived by Walter Benjamin in his seminal essay “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction,” is the unique aesthetic authority of an object in time and space. This is further identified through contemporary texts written by bell hooks, Hito Steyerl, and Audre Lorde. The works produced for Originals and Echoes establish how aura is presented in one’s practice.

MIAD Gallery at The Ave provides a supportive space for Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design students, alumni, faculty, and staff to show and sell their work in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. The gallery will hold both exhibitions and a rotating inventory of artwork, crafted goods, and more.
